What Is Cardiac Coherence?


Positive emotions like appreciation, joy, care and kindness create a harmony in the heart’s rhythms and nervous system. Other systems sync up to this rhythm, which is called coherence. Coherence leads to more mental clarity, creativity and better problem-solving abilities, and therefore better ways of handling stressful situations.

How does stress affect health?

Stress can affect you physically, mentally and emotionally. According to a report by the American Institute of Stress, up to 90% of all health problems are related to stress. Stress can contribute to and worsen many health problems including heart disease, high blood pressure, depression, anxiety, panic, chronic pain, sleep disorders, and others.

How does cardiac coherence training work?


You are taught the Quick Coherence Tool, which includes focus on your heart area, a specific breathing technique and holding a positive feeling in your heart. You practice using HeartMath® emWave® technology which is a program that allows you to see your heart rhythm patterns in real time on a computer screen. By correlating the patterns on the screen with the calm feeling you create internally you learn to develop and maintain physiological coherence.
